It's Tits Out Collective Time

I bought the original charity yarns ‘Shit Tea and Tray Bake’ and ‘If I want exposure I’ll get my tits out’ from the Countess because I do not like the ‘You’ll be paid in exposure’ idea that seems to pervade in creative industries … I pay cash because the only exposure I can offer people is a night in my front bedroom in January (that’s hypothermia levels of exposure).  Exposure doesn’t pay anyone’s bills.

So when I saw that she was setting her colourway free to create a Collective to continue to generate money for charity, I knew we had to join – firstly to be part of something bigger and secondly to get off my backside and actually contribute to something.  I’m an extroverted person but I do not believe that I am the type of person to lead a movement so I am very grateful when someone else does.

The charities we are supporting

Women’s Aid.  In the spirit of the original project started by the Countess, we would like to continue donations to Women’s Aid.  It seems very trite to say women and children have a right to live safely and securely but the reality of many women’s lives is that they do not and charities like Women’s Aid are vital in ensuring that women can rebuild their lives after finding themselves in unimaginable circumstances.

Bramcote Animal Rescue, Nottingham.  For many people animal charities are not the first charities they support because they seem trivial in relation to the problems of human beings.  However Simon and I fervently believe, particularly where domestic pets are concerned, that human beings have caused many of the issues faced by animals and we therefore have a responsibility to look after them.  Jim & Maud came to us from Bramcote Rescue.

My Squad

Three quarters of our squad - Maud, Norm & Jim

Without small rescues like Bramcote, who take dozens if not hundreds of kittens and other animals every year, so many creatures would never find forever homes and be left to fend for themselves or, even worse, to die cruel deaths.  Someone put Jim in a bag with his siblings and threw them over the wall of the rescue because ‘they were going on holidays and had no one to look after the kittens’.  That was the same summer that someone else sealed a set of kittens in a box and left them in the woods in mid-20s degree heat (thankfully found and all homed).

Spay & Neuter your pets

Jim say Spay/Neuter (and be a slave to) your pets

What are we doing?

We have 4 colourways dyed on our Lovely Bluefaced base.  £3 of each skein will be donated to Women’s Aid and an additional £3 of each skein will be donated to Bramcote Animal Rescue for their on-going vets bills.

Three Two One Ya Done

Three Two One Ya Done ... our fav of the colourways ... so named as I was done trying to stop Purple & Yellow misbehaving with one another! (And who doesn't love Nailed It!!)

In addition to this, I have designed a pattern called ‘Full Exposure’ which is available on Ravelry.  £1 of each sale of the pattern will be donated to Bramcote Animal Rescue.  This donation will be via the purchase of items from their Amazon wish list.

Full Exposure

Full Exposure, for when you don't want to get your actual boobs out!

After the official close of the Collective, with all donations being made in August, I will continue to offer the repeatable colourways and the pattern, with the donations being made on a quarterly basis.

A big thank you to Lyndsey and the squad at Countess Ablaze.  You can find all the details of all the products being offered by the collective on the Countess Ablaze page from Noon BST July 1st 2018, our yarns will be available on our site from that time and the pattern will be live on Ravelry from then as well.

Thank you so much for taking time to read this.

Now it’s time to figure out which yarns and lovelies we need to buy from other members of the collective … so many beauties from so many inspiring people.
