Free Pattern: Knit Hatty DK

I love finding a new single farm yarn so when I was delighted when Deborah from Armscote Manor yarns got in touch with me about her beautiful wool.  Armcote Manor comes in four colours and is in double knitting weight.  I don't have it in the shop yet but I didn't want to wait before knitting a pattern in it!  So here it is, Knit Hatty DK.  You can buy the yarn directly from the Armscote Manor website.

Abbreviations

K: Knit

P: Purl

K2Tog: Knit next 2 stitches together

PM: Place marker

Tbl: Through the back loop

Sl1pw: Slip 1 stitch purlwise. For this pattern, when knitting the stitch after the slip stitch, pull the working yarn a little to make the slipped stitch more prominent

Jogless join stitch: This is worked in the first stitch of the second round of each stripe.  When you come to this stitch, pick up the stitch from the round below (in the previous colour) and knit these two stitches together.  This stretches the stitch of the previous colour.  The line is still visible, but in this pattern, it is part of the slipped rib stitch and therefore fits into the overall design of the hat.

Pattern

In M1, with 3.75mm needles and using a loose method (e.g. long-tail method), cast on 105 (120, 135) stitches.  Join for working in the round, being careful not to twist.  Place marker to indicate start of round.
